JAMES B. WILLIAMS, M.S.T., C.P.A

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara.  Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University.

 

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Jamie joined the Sacramento office of Grant Thornton in 1983 after serving six years with a local accounting firm in Sacramento.  He was the head of the Tax Department during his last three years at Grant Thornton.  He has served as a speaker in tax instruction seminars and has had articles published on tax matters.

Areas of expertise include providing tax planning and consulting services to individuals and closely-held businesses with such matters as real estate, construction, S corporations,  mergers and acquisitions, non-profit taxation issues, ESOP's, pension/profit sharing and other deferred compensation plans, and trust and estate taxation.

Jamie has served on the board of directors of several non-profit organizations and in November 2000, was elected to serve a four-year term on the board of directors of Sacramento Suburban Water District. In 2003, Jamie was elected as Board President.

STEVEN J. OLDS, C.P.A.

EDUCATION 

Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Michigan State University.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Steve's public accounting career began in 1976 and includes twelve years with the international accounting firms of Deloitte & Touche, Ernst & Young and Grant Thornton.  Over three of these years were spent in the Stockholm, Sweden offices of Ernst & Whinney.  Prior to starting his own firm in 1989, Steve was a senior audit manager and a national instructor of continuing education classes at Grant Thornton.

Areas of expertise include auditing and accounting services to privately-held companies in the following industries:  agribusiness, construction and real estate, employee benefit plans, government and non-profit, health care, manufacturing, and retail and wholesale.       

Steve was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Sacramento Chapter of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and became its president in May 1997.  In June 1996, Steve was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of Family Service Agency of Greater Sacramento and became its president in 1999.

DOUG L. STRAUCH, C.P.A.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Doug joined the Sacramento office of KPMG in 1996 and spent the following nine years performing audits of real estate development firms, home builders, property management firms, low income housing developers, and construction companies.  Areas of expertise include experience is dealing with complex joint venture/partnership transactions including real estate as well as identifying deficiencies in accounting system controls and developing recommendations for corrective action.

Doug left KPMG as a senior manager in 2005 to become the V.P. of finance for a large private homebuilder where he led the accounting, finance and IT departments.  He participated in managing banking and joint venture relationships and managed the operations through a lengthy chapter 11 bankruptcy process.     

Doug joined Williams and Olds in May 2009 as the Audit Manager and became a Principal of the Firm in January 2014.
